This display celebrates the history of fashion in Southampton, in part generated by the high- class glamour of the city’s first clothing department store, Tyrrell and Green, established in 1897. The exhibition includes outfits and accessories from 1890 to the 1970s sourced from the Heritage collection, including many donated by Evelyn Cozens. This display is timely; the Tyrell and Green building, which holds fond memories for many people, is demolished and we look forward to the opening of the New Arts Complex, to be be located on its site.
