International Women's Day is celebrated all over the world on 8th March. It is a global day connecting all women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential. International Women's Day celebrates the collective power of women, past, present and future. Below are a few events taking place in the city as part of the International Women's Day celebrations. Saturday 27 February Women’s Health & Well being Day Time: 2:30pm – 5:30pm Venue: St. Mary’s Leisure Centre, St Marys Road Admission: FREE Workshops, activities and stalls; ranging from trampoline sessions, badminton, free health body checks, information on healthy living and local services. Tuesday 2 March - Friday 12 March Exhibition by Amy Binding Time: 11am - 5pm Monday - Friday, 12noon - 5pm Saturday, 12noon - 3pm Sunday Venue: The Art House Cafe, 178 Above Bar, Southampton Admission: FREE Come and see the exhibition of photographs by Amy Binding. Friday 5 March Chocfest Time: 7.30pm - 9.30pm Venue: The Art House Cafe, 178 Above Bar, Southampton Admission: By Magic hat - pay what you can Sunday 7 March Film Night Time: 2pm Venue: The Art House Cafe, 178 Above Bar, Southampton Admission: By Magic hat - pay what you can A double matinee of films starting with a documentary on feminist artist Louise Bourgeois, followed by a feature-length presentation of an iconic women's film. Monday 8 March Visit to the Mayor's Parlour Time: 2pm Venue: Civic Centre Free Tour led by a Town Sergeant. The Right Worshipful Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Elizabeth Mizon, will be at the event. National Stop Smoking day is on the 10 March and there will be a week of activities with Quitters running publicity stalls across the city. They are also running a 'Big Quit' until the end of March.
