International Womens Day Events

International Women's Day is celebrated all over the world on 8th March.
It is a global day connecting all women around the world and inspiring them to achieve their full potential.
International Women's Day celebrates the collective power of women, past, present and future.
Below are a few events taking place in the city as part of the International Women's Day celebrations.

Saturday 27 February
Women’s Health & Well being Day
Time: 2:30pm – 5:30pm
Venue: St. Mary’s Leisure Centre, St Marys Road
Admission: FREE
Workshops, activities and stalls; ranging from trampoline sessions, badminton, free health body checks, information on healthy living and local services.

Foyer Exhibition
Time: Civic Centre open Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm
Venue: Civic Centre Foyer / Reception, Civic Centre Road
Admission: FREE

Exhibition by Amy Binding

Film Night

Admission: By Magic hat - pay what you can
A double matinee of films starting with a documentary on feminist artist Louise Bourgeois, followed by a feature-length presentation of an iconic women's film.

Monday 8 March
Visit to the Mayor's Parlour
Time: 2pm
Venue: Civic Centre
Free Tour led by a Town Sergeant. The Right Worshipful Mayor of Southampton, Councillor Elizabeth Mizon, will be at the event.

Wednesday 10 March
Quitters
Encouraging women not to smoke. National Stop Smoking day is on the 10 March and there will be a week of activities with Quitters running publicity stalls across the city. They are also running a 'Big Quit' until the end of March.

Life O Riley
