By Car

There are fast road links to Southampton via the M27 and M3 which provide access from the motorway network and London. Southampton can be reached in around an hour from the M25 and Birmingham is two and a half hours away via the M40 and A34. The best way to get to Southampton by road is to take the M27 to junction 3, and then the M271 following the motorway signs to WestQuay Shopping Centre and the city centre.

By Train

Frequent and direct services call at Southampton Central from most stations in Hampshire. WestQuay Shopping Centre and the city centre shops are only a few minutes from the station. The CityLink shuttle bus runs directly from the station to WestQuay Shopping Centre whilst the CityLoop links the main shopping area with the station.

From Autumn 2000 (Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays), try the new Park and Rail Scheme run by South West Trains at Southampton Airport (Parkway) station and catch the train to WestQuay Shopping Centre. There are up to four services an hour and the journey time is around seven minutes. Pay a special discounted rate of only £2.50 which includes parking and return rail travel for up to five people.

By Ferry

There is a regular car and passenger ferry service linking Cowes on the Isle of Wight to Southampton. Red Funnel operates two services - an hourly car ferry to the Royal Pier and a half hourly high speed passenger service to Town Quay, with direct connections to the CityLink and CityLoop buses. White Horse Ferries, based at Town Quay, operate a regular service between Southampton and Hythe, providing a link from the towns and villages on the other side of Southampton Water. For information call 023 8084 0722.

The city centre is just 10 minutes away by train. Southampton Airport (Parkway) station has direct links with Southampton Central station.
